The composite is a dental material used to replace any restoration in the teeth directly or indirectly. It is formed through an organic monomer matrix that are integrated by a polymerized reaction that serve to provide hardening, firmness and reduce the contortion of the material when fortified.

Dental composite

What Is Known As Composite?

The composite is a synthetic and aesthetic component, since it is not noticeable and resembles the diverse range of colors that dental tonality can have. This particle is very small and contains different elements that, when exposed to a particular light, harden allowing optimal polishing and finishing. This achieves a brightness that lasts over time.

The polymerization or hardening of the material is carried out by means of a special light, which allows the compound to work the necessary time until the ideal shape of the affected tooth is achieved.

It is usually visualized as a consistency very similar to plasticine, which allows easy molding with the simple use of certain spatulas or dental brushes.

How Are Composites Classified?

These materials tend to be classified in different ways depending on different aspects. Let’s see them!

Its use

This compound is used to:

  • Dentalstaurations
  • The

Its polymerization

Its hardening mode is carried out in three possible ways:

  • Photopolymerizable, where they usually harden by means of a halogen light.
  • Self-curing, where they automatically harden due to the mixture of two components.
  • Duales, where they harden by the combination of the photocuring and autorpolymerizables.

The size of the particle

The size of the particle will depend on the necessary oscillation, varying between:

  • Macroparticle, whose size ranges from 0.1 to 100 microns.
  • Microparticle, varying and hovering around its size between 0.04 and 0.07 microns.
  • Hybrids, designed with larger and smaller particles.
  • Nanoparticle, allows to reduce the size of the particles improving their physical and aesthetic characteristics.
  • Nanohybrids, oscillating pyrogenic silicas of 0.04 and 0.07 um.

What Is Composite Used For In The Dental Area?

In the dental world it is used to make dental treatments such as:

Cuidados Posteriores Del Composite

  • Brush regularly and complete the brushing using dental utensils such as: oral irrigator, mouthwashes or dental floss, among others.
  • Perform thorough dental cleanings every three to four months.
  • Wear a splint overnight if you squeeze or grind your teeth.
  • Avoid eating foods that cause staining or variation in tooth tone, such as coffee, tea, cola, and sugars.
  • Avoid smoking cigarettes or tobacco.
  • Eat a bland diet for 24 hours after treatment.
  • After five or six years after the treatment, you will have to undergo a retouching without exception, since it will be necessary to perform a polishing and waxing to return the desired shine and tonality.

In the Ruiz de Gopegui Dental Clinic you will find a wide variety of treatments, techniques and / or avant-garde and technological methods, specially developed to meet the needs, tastes, degree of affection and oral situation of each person.
