Postoperative Recommendations
After oral surgery, postoperative care is important to minimize discomfort and improve healing. Each patient is different and at our Ruiz de Gopegui dental clinic we will give you personalized guidelines tailored to your case. However, the general care that must be followed after oral surgery are:
- Apply ice to the face over the operated area for the first 24 hours to reduce inflammation.
- Avoid excessive physical effort during the first week.
- The diet should be soft or liquid and cold for the first 24-48 hours. Ice creams, yogurts, juices or gelatin are especially recommended.
- Rest and sleep with the head elevated and lie on the non-operated side.
- Brush your teeth and tongue normally.
- After the first 24 hours, rinse with an antiseptic 2-3 times a day.
- Avoid smoking.
- In our dental clinic we will recommend a medication that you must take in the way that we prescribe. If you have any questions, you can ask us.
