Types of Teeth Whitening
There are different types of teeth whitening treatments, each with its advantages and disadvantages.
In-clinic teeth whitening
One of the most popular treatments is in-office bleaching: Bleaching agents are applied to the teeth and activated with light or heat. This treatment usually has immediate and long-lasting results.
Outpatient teeth whitening
Another option is outpatient teeth whitening by splints: An increasingly popular option, as it offers the possibility of recovering a bright, long-lasting white smile without resorting to invasive or painful treatments, as well as having better results.

What is teeth whitening?
Teeth whitening is a treatment that has become very popular in recent years, as it offers the possibility of recovering a white and bright smile without the need to resort to invasive or painful treatments.
It is a safe and effective option to remove stains and yellowing that can accumulate on teeth over time due to factors such as tobacco, wine, coffee and other foods with dyes, lack of proper oral hygiene or certain medications.
The main whitening agent used in the treatment is hydrogen peroxide, which is in gel form and is applied to the teeth. The chemical reaction that occurs between the gel and the tooth enamel allows the particles that cause the darkening to be broken down, achieving greater luminosity and clarity in the teeth.
At David Cardona Dental Clinic we follow a teeth whitening protocol based on scientific studies that demonstrate its effectiveness and safety.
This protocol combines in-clinic whitening with the use of a carbamide peroxide solution at home, achieving long-lasting and stable results. In addition, our team of professionals is highly qualified and has the most advanced technology to ensure an effective and comfortable treatment for our patients.
How long do teeth whitening results last?
It is important to keep in mind that, although teeth whitening is a safe and effective treatment, it is not a permanent solution. Periodic maintenance is necessary to maintain the white and radiant color of your teeth.
At the David Cardona Dental Clinic we can advise you on the frequency of maintenance and how to take care of your teeth to prolong the results of the treatment. In general, whitening performed correctly and with proper hygiene habits usually lasts about two years.
Also, it is important to remember that it is not suitable for all patients. If you have sensitive teeth or oral health problems, it may not be the right treatment for you. At David Cardona Dental Clinic, our team of professionals will perform a complete evaluation of your mouth to determine if teeth whitening is a safe and effective option for you.
Recommendations for keeping teeth white
As the years go by, many people notice their natural shade of young white teeth fading, and their tooth enamel may darken due to smoking, wine consumption and some unhealthy eating habits.
It is important to change these eating habits and reduce the intake of foods and beverages (such as coffee, wine, tea and Coca-Cola) that contain a lot of colorants or dyes, and also to stop smoking.
If you already have dark or stained teeth, the only solution to restore a natural white is an outpatient or in-office teeth whitening treatment.
We recommend that you always maintain good dental hygiene, and combine home care with regular check-ups and prophylaxis at the dentist.
In addition, it is advisable to reduce the consumption of coffee and wine because of their great staining capacity, and to opt for foods such as apples, pineapple, onions and others that are beneficial for natural whitening.
